Anatoli teaches : Level 2 Stand Up on Saturdays
In 1991 Anatoli Brant moved from Soviet Ukraine to the United States. In 2002, after teaching himself English and conquering the American Dream, Brant decided to take to the mic, using his unique cultural experiences to craft a distinct comedic voice that quickly won him the 2009 San Francisco Battle of the Bay Comedy Competition.
After another move (this time to Portland, Oregon), Anatoli continued using is exceptional take on culture, current events, and raising an American family to become a regular host at Harvey's Comedy Club, finalist in 2013’s Helium Comedy Club's Funniest Person Contest, and one of the Pacific Northwest’s most loved comedians. Anatoli is also the creator, host, and producer of Comedy Bull, a weekly show at Portland’s Brody Theater which challenges comics' comfort levels for audience amusement. The show has played at both Helium Comedy Club and Bridgetown Comedy Festival, and has featured top tier performers including Ian Karmel, Curtis Cook, and James Adomian. You can find Anatoli weekly at the Brody Theater, on season 4 of Portlandia, or on twitter at @BrantAnatoli |
Testimonials about Anatoli
"Anatoli Brant has a lot of experience to bring to the table, I feel like this class can save you months worth of open mic trial and error. "
"I found the advanced stand-up class very valuable. Students will get out of this class what they put into it. I'm a very experienced performer, but I felt that this class was useful and appropriate for a variety of skill levels. The genuine care and concern that Anatoli has for each student is remarkable, and he demonstrates this by providing thoughtful, detailed critique and suggestions at each class. I felt that he truly wanted each one of us to succeed. "
"One great thing about taking classes at the Brody is that they hire instructors who are successful, active performers themselves. Anatoli is a comic who currently performs and books shows in Portland. I have used his writing suggestions, and came out of the class with new material that works very well in performance."
"I would recommend this class to anyone who would like to create or work on material in a safe space while receiving valuable, usable guidance from a caring, knowledgable instructor and respectful peers. "
"Anatoli is a great and qualified teacher, he knows a lot about smart comedy. Don't feel bad if you can't pronounce his name the first 3 weeks the class!"
